Delatte found early success with these vases, produced in a variety of sizes and colour combinations at his Verrerie de l’Est glassworks in Nancy. In 1921  Delatte  created the company "Les Verreries de L'Est sa" in Jarville in the suburbs of Nancy .The probable origin of the word "Berluze" come from the container used by the workers in the glass factories of Meisenthal and Saint Louis, in order to be able to quench their thirst in the workshops, due to the heat of the ovens.
