Maurice André (1914–1985) was a French artist best known for his work in tapestry. He helped found the group Tapisserie de France and was a member of the Association des Peintres-Cartonniers de Tapisserie. He played an important role in modern tapestry art in France.
His style was very personal and different from artists like Jean Lurçat. Influenced by Cubism, he used flat areas of color and often limited colors to create strong visual effects. He received important commissions, including works for the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and for the French pavilion at the Expo 58.
Later in his career, his work became more abstract, similar to artists like Jean Lurçat  Wogensky and Mario Prassinos. His later tapestries were more geometric and expressive, somewhat like the style of Mathieu Matégot. It is a mechanic weaved jacquard piece ,
