Matégot, originally a decorator, then creator of artefacts and furniture (an activity he abandoned in 1959) met François Tabard in 1945 and gave him his first cartoons, first of all figurative then rapidly of abstract design in the 1950’s. Their collaboration produced great abstract composition using subtle  and complexe weaving .This piece is named Totem  with a dedication  ,  signed in the back . There are few example of Mategot working with Robert Four who edited silkscreen tapestry for Lurcat , Picart Ledoux and many other .The silk-screening versus weaving  made it possible to create  democratically affordable  art piece for the middle class .
