Made in France in the 1930's this  sculpture reflect the democratic desire of that  time to produced affordable art . It is  metal instead of bronze but the  quality of design is here .It was done with the same casting than a bronze and  the detail of the piece are very fine . This type of "wild life "  themes  were very popular in the era .Irenee Rochard  Animal Sculpture With Marble  Base Circa 1930’s. Impressive, large, patinated metal  on marble base  animal sculpture by Irenee Rochard (1906-1984). Famous for bringing his animal  subjects to life, giving them an intelligence to bring out their personality,  their greatness, or their fierceness. Tirelessly, he created hundreds of animals  in their daily attitudes with such a Delicacy that we are brought to think they  stood still only for an instant, just to be admired. Signed on the marble  .Truthfully a great decorative piece .
