There are 4 panels with the names of maritime explorer from Bartolomeu Dias ( 1450 –  1500) to Admiral Dumont d'Urville (1790-1842) , 2 of the panels slide to revel a clock mechanism  which seems to be  turning the globe as clock would .

Chaude was active during the second part of the 19th century , the globe  featured  " republique de la Plata " ("Provincias Unidas del Rio de la Plata" before the 1853 ) which became Argentina in 1860.

There are some crack and some small dent ( Pacific ocean ) but overall the piece is stable with no missing part of the map .

Intriguing piece created to celebrate the maritime explorer of the last 300 years . The wind being  still the  energy moving boat is represented with the putty blowing air , the orb having   the astronomical zodiac signs could also be  possibly moving with the mechanism indicating the month of the year  H.22  , Basse 7x7 in , orb 9 .in , rewinding key present .
