De L'ISLE/ BUACHE, Ph. Map of America drawn up for the use of the King by Guillaume Delisle... 1722. Paris, Buache, 1745.  First published by De l'Isle in 1722. This is the fifth state of the map, geographically unchanged from the original, but with Philippe Buache's address at the bottom right dated 1745 , Ph. Buache having taken over the work and inventory after the death of De l'isle in 1726 .

Delisle extended the French territorial claims to the Rio Grande and Pecos River, causing outrage in turn in Spain. It was at the time the most precise map of the still to explore Americas  , California being firmly attached on North America .

Size 29 1/4 x 22 in ,oroginal water color , good condition .
