Charles V. Monin (18..-1880) was a French cartographer and publisher, three important atlases and several independent works were produced between 1830 and 1880. Monin was a member of the Société de Géographie of Paris, and has also worked with other French map publishers including Vuillemin and Fremin.

A great innovator, he was one of the first cartographers in Europe to take advantage of the newly discovered printing process: "lithographic engraving". He was able to produce a large quantity of prints, using steel plates instead of copper whose durability due to its ductility was relatively short. Copper was commonly used for making prints since the 16th century. The united states of Rio de la Plata place this map around 1840. It would make a great set framed on a wall .
