Charles-Francois Delamarche (1740-1817), the founder of the family firm, was a prominent French geographer and mapmaker in the late 18th century. His legacy continued through his son, Félix Delamarche (18th century – 1st half of the 19th century). The Delamarche mapmaking and publishing business operated in Paris until the mid-19th century.

Félix Delamarche, Charles's son, was a mechanical engineer specializing in globes and spheres. He crafted educational atlases, and this puzzle set is a direct adaptation of the 1838 edition. The maps are hand-colored and intricately engraved, mounted on thin wooden sheets, each measuring 13x18 inches. They exhibit slight yellowing but remain in overall good condition.
