12" TERRESTRIAL FRENCH ANTIQUE TABLE GLOBE IKELMER 1880 SCHOOL GLOBE
This 12 inches globe was Edited by Ikelmer,a French editor of the late 19th , Little is know about him ,"dressée par R.Barbot géographe, gravée par L.Sonnet, signé Ikelmer Editeur-fabricant de sphères, Ministère de l'Instruction Publique, Paris".It was destined to be used in school as indicated by the inclusion of " ministere de l'education national "in the label.R. Barbot , the geographer , is also found on other atlas and globe  of the same era .The cast iron basse is unusual with  insert of  Aries  the Ram  , Taurus the  Bull and  a Capricorn horned goat on 3 satyrs legs ,  all connecting to Greek mythology.  The arm  holding the globe is another sheldom found support . 
I believe it is a good value in term of historical content and decorative cachet .
Size : 12" globe , H18.in ,  soft  color ,  some oxidation of the paper , browning ,  easy to read and observe all the country.
