Lamps , chandelier and sconces have been part of civilization for millennia. Scribes, philosophers, scientists and map makers illuminated their tables with oil lamps. Temples created drama with standing torches , candleholders became the preferred mode of lighting in the 18th century — enhanced with crystal for reflection. With the invention of electric current these objects became synonymous with modernity — from industrial pendant to surgery table, nightclub, office and home. A style and a function for every human activity.
