Born on August 9, 1921 in Payroux, in southern Vienne, René Fumeron remains above all known for his tapestries. He signed more than 1,000, woven in Aubusson in the Creuse and at the Gobelins in Paris. They have been exhibited all over the world .His work was figurative to begin with and influenced by Lurçat, then turned towards abstraction, before coming back to a style characterised by colourful figurative and realistic depictions .He was  commissioned on numerous occasions by the state before participating in the decoration of the ocean liner “France .This piece has also some similarity with the late work of Mategot .
