Made in France in the 1960 this cotton tapestry reflect the democratic desire of that time to produce affordable art . Neo fantastic and influenced by art nouveau  movement  Lurcat  tapestry use the vocabulary of natural symbol like the sun , animal and musical instrument , mixing decorative subject with mythological scene . In this piece the theme  is a congress of fish and algae    .Jean Lurcat was a great master of Aubusson tapestry, where he  produced over eight hundred original tapestries in his lifetime. It is a Corot edition , specialized in limited edition 

Size68 in   x 44 in  actual art work size white border not included , there are some mark of oxidation on the back from the wood frame now gone , it does not show in the front of the tapestry .
