This globe is from the early 1900's , it was originally a Forest celestial globe draw by Theophile Moreux (1867-1954) , a noted astronomer of the late 19.Th.
This type of globe belong to the tradition of globe making of the 19th century : 12 full gores on a solid ball of plaster . In 1886, geographer and cartographer Joseph Forest (1865-after 1930) founded his publishing house for maps, plans, world maps, globes, terrestrial and celestial spheres, and charts. His wall maps and Globes for teaching were published by Girard et Barrere which at a later date took over Forest map and globe under their name .
It could be pair with a Forest terrestrial to complete the usual 18th century pairing of a celestial and terrestrial globes . ( terrestrial globe sold separetely )
