Pair of French modernist desk lamp made in the 1940's by Jumo , an important lamp making company from France who used the best designer of their time. Charlotte Perriand used it in her design work , I included a reference published to accompany an major retrospective held at the Centre Georges Pompidou. Charlotte Perriand (1903 - 1999), avant guarde modernist pioneer, spent her life "à la recherche sincère et constante d'un art de vivre en accord avec son temps" (in the sincere and constant search of a contemporary life style). Her personality which made her one of the protagonists of the history of twentieth century design, continues to influence our modern way of living . The patina stand beautifully in comparison to the new production mainly manufactured in China , the metal has a warmth that mass produced copy cannot duplicate , the design itself is so much more graceful and elegant adding soul to your interior. It is unclear if Perriand use it for her design or if she actually designed it .
