French Art Deco sideboard made in the 1930's in France , this type of sideboard was quite fashionable in France around this period .I looked for reference on line and in books about this sideboard , I think it is most likely a designer creation. Leather shagreen on the door , ebonized oak ,very clean carved details, original brass hardware , it all point to a good provenance. You can see the influence of Charles Dudouyt : simple line with strong contrast .I did not find this piece in the catalogue of Levitan or Le Bucheron which was with Les Gallerie Barbes the main distributor of mass produced furniture of their time .It is not one of the piece widely built and distributed that I learn to recognize through the years .This sideboard as center of attention will bring a distinctive touch to any interior , French art deco match classical and post modern design alike with ease and grace.
