rge sideboard made in the 1940's or early 1950's in France with the distinctive flavor of the French designer Leleu , clear line made of dark wood (mahogany) with inlaid macassar doors . The use of Ebony and brass hardware create a classic contrast blending traditional design with modern line. Francis Jourdain said about simple form :"... the disappearance of ornament is the proof of the revolution of civilization and notion of beauty ...." The inlay are also a trademark of Leleu . This piece is built in solid mahogany , it can be disassembled which is a construction process they stopped in the 1950's due to the cost. It is signed in the back with a bone cartouche including a fading Jules Leleu signature .
