This 12 inches black school globe was used in classroom like a blackboard to write the name of the country and geographic details with a chalk .When done you could just erase everything and start all over again .The base is a Lebegue stand one of the french globe maker maker of the late 1800's early 1900's .From the design of the base I place the date of production in the late 1800's. Overall a very decorative piece .There is some crack and touch up paint but it has a nice patina. The base has LB engraved with 3 different faces representing a native American , a Chinese and African using the stereotype of this era.
