Made in the yearly 1950's in France this set of chairs reflect the streamlined style which was started by the Bauhaus movement with a dedication to function and form .The designer from the UAM (Union des artistes modernes) was a movement made up of decorative artists and architects founded in France on 15 May 1929 and active until 1959 )embraced this thinking and proclaimed : ... We must rise up against everything that looks rich, against whatever is well made, and against anything inherited from grandmother...impose will where habit is not invoked...overcome the habit of the eyes.... Prouve one of their member has been attributed this design ( see last picture ). Those are high so they would do great around a bar or in a conference room. Those are in original condition so they could be refinished to give it a uniform condition .The chairs are in usable condition if you like the "patined" looks .
