It clearly show the influence on Paul Frankl of the French art deco after his visit to the French " Exposition des Arts Decoratives " in 1925. I found several pictures of his creation on line which confirm my opinion . The base is a design that Frankl used with different variation over time , his later work is better know as it was mass produced . | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

You can also feel the influence of his mentor Frank Lloyd Wright in the concept of this piece. The condition is very good , it was recently refinished so it is ready to grace your interior . The base and side is ebonized so you can still see the grain of the wood . " Decorating is eliminating " was Paul Frankl favorite slogan. This unique piece is definitely pre WW2 in inspiration and quality .Size H .30 1/2 x L 84 x W.36 , good antique condition

| .Made in France in the 1920's or 1930's this dining room table is built with a top pallisandre ( Brazilian rosewood) ,the base is Ebonized Maple ( meaning stained wood so you can still see the grain) .The style is pure French Art Deco and was at the time one of the best quality available in the style of Rhulmann or Dufrene .The eight legs in the shape of a scroll are labor intensive so this table is most likely not a mass produced piece .It is possible to sit 8 to 12 persons if you decide to use the leaves's mecanism ( the leaves need to be built , I can facilitate if desired) . It was recently refinished so it is ready to grace your interior The attention to details and design indicate a good provenance , most likely the work of a designer 's studio . I have 6 chairs to match .
Size H.30 1/2 x L.63 x W.43 1/2 ,L. 90 with the leaves , very good antique condition , recently refinished |

More about the 1930s , they were described as an abrupt shift to more radical lifestyles, as countries were struggling to find a solution to the global depression. In Australia, this decade was known as the Dirty Thirties. In both Central Europe and Eastern Europe, Fascism, Nazism, Stalinism, dominated as the solution, the first two adopting war-oriented economic policies and the latter emphasizing heavy industrial development, all of them described as totalitarian regimes. In East Asia, the rise of Militarism occurred. In Western Europe, Australia and the United States, more progressive reforms occurred as opposed to the extreme measures sought elsewhere. Roosevelt's New Deal attempted to use government spending to combat large-scale unemployment and severely negative growth. Ultimately, it would be the beginning of World War II in 1939 that would end the depressi. Strangely the designer of that time produced a very optimistic Art Deco style with simple lines and color full contrascct which expressed their hopes that progress would resolve humanity misery. They also had the desire to democratize art and beauty so it would be accessible to the mass.
