#01 is very much in the style of Dominique , mixing modern shape with classical design , this sidetable is big enough to double as a coffe table.Dominique which was founded by Andre Domin and Marcel Genevriere produced some of the best cubist furniture of their time , they always softened their creations with curves and elegant details. In the 1920's and 1930's mass producing was still in its infancy , copyright a new idea so it make it very difficult to be sure of the provenance .A lot of furniture maker just emulated the creation of the major designer like Rulhman and Leleu .All of the tables offered on my web site are a collection of the best quality available during the French art deco period from 1915 to 1940. Jean Royere designed a lot of interior for the French Cruiseliner until the 1970 's , this side table came with a pair of chairs made of solid oak with a very light " cerusee" effect ( see armchairs) , This set has been made by " la Maison Mauge" for an armateur in Le Havre. Jean Royere did a lot of work there including the " Chamber of Commerce" . He was established in this town from 1926 to 1932 , futhermore he keep working with August Perret when he moved to Paris. This side table illustrated his first approach to functionalism over form.Later his style become more lyric with very baroque and almost kitsch design.

Some history about French Art Deco Furniture
The history of furniture styles is rooted deeply in the history of the cultures that created them. It reveals many interesting details of these cultures. In the 1920s and 1930s one of the most fashionable furniture styles was named Art Deco, after L'Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925. The finest Art Deco furniture was luxurious, made of exotic woods like macassar ebony and Caucasian burr walnut, and decorated with ivory and shagreen, an untanned leather. The furniture of the Frenchman Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann is most closely associated with this high-style Art Deco. The greater informality of the period is reflected in the low chairs and the development of the cocktail tab
