The surface condition is very good , no restoration , some very small missing spot of paper ,some crack line in the paper ( see picture ). Overall the countries are easy to read and discern. The printing is really nice and well done , this type of globe belong to the tradition of globe making of the 19th century : 12 full gores on a solid ball of glass .There is usual high quality detail of a large Forrest globe , sea current , train lines and precise geo politic borders . The mahogany wood mount is from Jacques Adnet .The half ring is nickel chromed with very little oxidation. The Forrest company is a very well know French company which produced until the 1930's and was merged with "Girard, Barrère et Thomas" which became "Taride" in later date. While it is not in pristine condition I believe is a good value in term of historical content and decorative cachet .Size H.21 , base 8 x8 , globe 14 "
French art deco Jacques Adnet terrestrial glass globe . More about Adnet :Jacques Adnet defines himself as an "innovator and classicist, a champion of the tradition leading toward the future." Infatuated with functionalism, he created solidly constructed furniture, very sober and often times completely lacking of all decor. There are still remincisings of ancient styles. A clear conception, logic and raffined materials make up the characteristics of production that Adnet frequently realized in collaboration with his younger brother Jean Adnet .
